FEBRUARY 2019 BLOG INCOME REPORT

My February blog traffic continued on its downward trend, meaning income for the month was also down.

However, it is months like these where I think it’s good to reflect on why the “drop”, what changed, and what changes should be made for the future.

Even though I only wrote 3 new posts (including last month’s income report) and barely made a daily appearance on Pinterest, I still made more money blogging this month than I did in the many many months combined when I first began blogging (most months I made less than $10).

I hope my blogging income reports will encourage you to consider pursuing blogging as a side hustle. Be warned, it’s not a get rich quick scheme by any means. It takes a lot of time, work, dedication, and continued learning.

If you’re a blogger who has been blogging for awhile and NOT seeing results I urge you to keep on going. I wanted to give up blogging altogether a few times along the way.

February 2019 BLOGGING STATS

Traffic: 33,815 11,849 pageviews

Traffic was only 1/3 of what it was in January :0 (Hey! February is a shorter month).

Again, this is what happens when you don’t do much of anything.

In January’s income report I reported that I was recovering from the vacation we went on/holidays. In truth my laziness and lack of motivation were what killed my blog traffic for the month.

But…I am back on the blogging “horse” and ready to write more content than ever before. I am currently working through my 2nd SEO (search engine optimization) course and am excited to see my traffic grow in a different way.

My bounce rate for February was 83.65%(which is an improvement for me). I wanted to make special note of this metric and the percent organic traffic I receive because I see these numbers improving as I implement more of what I have learned.

My Pinterest traffic continues to grow while my other social media account followings decline. Based on several blogging resources I have read, I should focus on what gives me the best bang for my time and that is in fact Pinterest.

My February Amazon income was super low as I had some returns.

I am quite surprised my Valentine’s Day gift guide didn’t do as well as last year’s even though traffic to the post was significantly higher. Something to work on for next year.

These resources are the ones that helped me hit over 25k sessions to join Mediavine and finally start making some money from my little blog.

Dare to Conquer (DTC, formerly BBC)

Scrivs, the chill, super successful blogger behind DTC runs multiple blogs that make several thousand dollars a month.

His course is different than any other courses I have seen. For one price you get access to every course, Pinterest guide, SEO, affiliate marketing, video, sales funnel, community, etc.

He constantly updates the courses and just recently came out with $1,000+ a month with ads.

I’m all about free. If you’re not sure if DTC is for you, just work through Scriv’s free 12 day blogging boot camp course. Tons of great sh*t you haven’t read before.

TAILWIND

I use Tailwind to look at my stats and Tailwind tribes was what helped me get over 1,000 page views a day.

You don’t need to have Tailwind to get a ton of traffic, but the time it saves me has been used to create new content and pins so I find it to be well worth the money.

Try Tailwind >>one month FREE, get a  $25  credit, and  free  access to 5 tribes<< for a limited time!

ACCOMPLISHMENTS

I put together some fun roundup posts that are currently doing well on Pinterest (unicorns and romantic dessert recipes).

Chasing Foxes repinned one of my pins in Tailwind, which is a blog that is run by Silas and Grace. After 4 months they were making enough money from their blog to travel full-time! They have a HUGE following so this was really cool.

CONCLUSION

The SEO course I’ve been working through was so exciting I felt like such a nerd. It almost reminded me of when I read the Harry Potter books for the first time. I just want to breeze through it.

Pinterest is going through some changes, which makes now as good a time as any to diversify my traffic mediums.

In the past month I have been asked by multiple people if I am a financial advisor and if I can help them with their finances and make some videos (which I would love to do if I had more time!).

More coffee, less sleep.. here I come!

FINAL THOUGHTS

I have a steadily growing list of topics I want to write about and think that accepting guest posts should a great way to give some love to my other blog categories.

I only have 1 guest post on my site because I was such a big control freak and wanted to be the sole creator of the work on my blog. Now I know that is unrealistic and would be a disservice to my readers (yea you!).

Why not get some different perspectives on topics I feel are important?

Can’t wait to crush my traffic this month and take action.
